Tianhe Educational Blog

Tianhe Educational Bureau of Guangzhou China launched a blog system in 2005. It’s a stage where the education researchjy.jpg department, educators, students and parents from the same community (Tianhe District) communicate with other. In one year right after the launch of Tianhe Blog system, it’d already had about 10,000 bloggers, more than 167,000 articles and more than 200,000 comments. Now, there are more than 300 articles published every day which offer plenty of teaching resource for all the teachers in this community. It’s the fastest growing Educational Blog system and the biggest teachers’ blog system in China.

Tianhe Blog broke the walls among schools and organized all the teachers of same subjects working together. Teachers can belong to different networking according to different schools, subjects or teaching levels. For example, each school’s blog system is a branch of main system administrated by Educational Bureau Blog system. A math teacher in an elementary school teaching K5 might have blog which is one of the branches of “elementary school”, “math teaching” and “K5 math”. Users can search his blog in different categories.

All the teachers in this community wrote down what they experienced in classes and their reflections to some classes then got feedback from other teachers who might or might not has the same experiences. They published their teaching plans and materials they need in the classes to share with others. Experienced teachers can get some fresh ideas and have brainstorm. Green hand teachers can learn a lot from what they published and felt more comfortable to ask questions. They also created a category for discussing a certain problems in teaching with the teachers in other schools. It’s a place with great open (free) source of teaching. Now even the teachers from other communities love to search the information they need in this blog system.

th.jpgNot only teachers but also students and parents got involved. Students can write feedback of classes, publish their homework and ask for academic help from their teachers. Parents know what the teachers are doing and how their kids work in learning. They might know what their kids should do for homework and how to help them in the right way. They have more chance to communicate with the teachers and have better understanding of education.

Three heads are better than one. Tianhe Blog system help the teachers to reflect what they did in class and share the experience which green hands can never have in short time. It also offers a bridge for teachers, parents and students. I am sure it will bring a revolution in teaching.
